The consultation. It is without a doubt the most important part of your service. This is where trust is built - on both sides. This is where we get to know each other and we put together a plan to get you where you want to be.
I personally do consultations a little differently than a lot of stylists. I have a questionnaire that my clients fill out and then I sit down and have a real, true conversation with you. I like to really delve into how you feel about your hair as well as how you want to feel about it. I will always be open, honest, and as clear as possible when it comes to what I can reccommend for your particular hair situation. So you could say I'm a little obsessed with having open lines of communication.
That being said, here are my top tips for having a succesful consultation:

First Things First
Honesty (on both sides) is the key to a successful hair appointment. Your stylist needs truly honest answers to their questions, whether that question is about your personal style and tastes or if it's a question about past chemical services. And your stylist must be honest with you about their education, expertise, and what a realistic goal might look like for your hair.
If no one is honest everyone ends up disappointed.
Keep an Open Mind
Keeping an open mind can be tough to do sometimes when we're really wanting something, but once in a while the things that we're looking to do aren't exactly what's best for us (or our hair).
It's kinda like when you really want that last cookie or slice of pizza because it tasted so good! But then you feel all uncomfortably full and slightly nauseous afterwards. You know you probably shouldn't, but it can be so hard to resist something that tastes so good.
Sometimes things take more time, product, effort, energy, and money than we thought they would. That may be ok, or maybe it just doesn't match up with our budget at that point. In that case, we have to change our tactics or our goals. That could mean just a peekaboo of fun colors instead of going all out, or starting with deeper colors before being able to reach that coveted pastel blue.
Bring Pictures!
Every stylist has a different opinion on this point. But I personally love it when people bring in inspiration photos! I find that photos can help bridge any vocabulary gaps that may come up, so I always encourage the use of pictures during a consultation. If you find that you only like parts of a few different pictures that's ok too! We can always adjust the bangs from one picture to flow well with the layers or length of another. But having those available to us helps to get on the same page.
I kept this short and sweet for you today so you can get the most important points quickly and easily.
To recap:
Things to Keep in Mind
Your hair is a reflection of you so you should be involved in the decision and plan making process
Honesty is super important for everyone's success and happiness
Some things take time and require patience
Not all things are possible all the time
Bring pictures!
